For context see TQ3579 : Surrey Docks offices. The blue plaque is one of a series by Southwark Council to mark historic events in the Borough, and are not connected with the national "blue plaques" marking where famous people lived. The text reads "Surrey Docks Fire. On September 7th 1940 the docks were set on fire in the first raid of the Blitz."
