"This monument depicting the interstate highway system in Vermont is dedicated to the men and women who contributed to the planning, designing and building of this magnificent transportation network. As the most significant engineering accomplishment in Vermont during the twentieth century it did much for the economic well being of our state. May the efforts of all who worked on this project be long remembered." Seen at the Vermont visitor highway stop in Guilford, Vermont. This is a "monument" but looks like a "plaque" and reads like a classic plaque. Plus I think this could make a great 99% Invisible story. Did women really work on the interstate highway system?!
