The Aden Bowman Residence

Designed in a vernacular style by Saskatoon architect, R. M. Thompson, and built in 1923 for Aden and Lillie Bowman, this residence is deeply connected to local commerce, civic politics and law.  Aden Bowman, pioneer entrepreneur and president of a family-owned automotive supply business, was a City Alderman from 1940 to 1952, and chaired the High School (Collegiate) Board for 14 years.  Aden Bowman Collegiate was named after him in 1957.  Lillie Bowman was also an active member of the community and served on City Council from 1955 to 1964.

From 1954 to 1976, the residence was owned by the Wedge family.  Lawyer, James Wedge, Q.C., served on City Council from 1960 to 1972.  Marian (Hall) Wedge entered the legal field after their children were born, becoming a prominent Provincial Court and Queen's Bench judge.

The Aden Bowman Residence was designated as Municipal Heritage Property on December 4, 2006.
