Pale Male, a red-tailed hawk, is the P.S. 6 school mascot. In 1993, Pale Male came to New York CIty and built his nest on the facade of a Fifth Avenue apartment building. He was the first and one of the only hawks to build a nest on a building. Pale Male will always be a symbol of nature enduring in an urban setting - in New York City, one of the biggest cities on earth [at that time]. Here at P.S. 6, we want to follow our mascot's example and try to accept differences. Pale Male, a wild animal, found a home in New York City. At P.S. 6, we embrace diversity, just as Pale Male did.
