This plaque tells the story of the "Oudegracht in Utrecht/NL", one of the old canals that serves as a traffic route from around the year 1150. The canals in Utrecht are unique with their water level below street level, where the cellars ("werfkelders" were used to unload and store the goods. On the right side of the canal is the "Twijnstraat a/d werf". The houses in the street called Twijnstraat parallel to the canal are with their backside to the water, forming a lower street.
