Necklace of Lights
NECKLACE OF LIGHTS
With the foresight and leadership of the Late Merritt
Breakfast Club, original sponsor of Children's Fairyland, and the
inspiration of Emelyn K. Jewett, the Necklace of Lights around
Lake Merritt has been restored and is dedicated to the people of
Oakland and surrounding communities, with special thanks to the
man individuals, businesses, organizations, the City of Oakland,
County and State agencies that generously donated the funds
and expertise to make the Necklace of Lights a reality and
serve as a reminder to future generations that an Oakland
landmark was saved and once again reflects the beauty
of man's partnership with nature.
