Moncla
Colonized in the late 1700s. Named for Dr. Joseph Thibault Moncla 1806-1883
Emigrant of Moncla, France, and husband of Arsene Bordelon. This settlement, on the south bank of the Red River, included a ferry, stagecoach stop, steamboat landing, warehouse, sawmill, cotton gin, general store, school and church. Moncla Post Office was established in 1896.
