Martha Graham (1894 - 1991)
The renowned pioneer of modern dance created radical new dances and rehearsed her company in this building during the 1930s and 40s. Graham also taught in a studio later named in her honor at The New School at 66 West 12th Street. Her dramatic style revolutionized the art form, influencing dance and theater worldwide.
