Chicago... Railroad Hub of The Nation

CHICAGO...

RAILROAD HUB OF THE NATION

Ever since the westward expansion of the frontier, Chicago has been the heart of the nation's rail network. Trains from the North, South, East and West arrive and depart from here.

Twenty-one railroads once served passengers from seven major terminals in Chicago:

UNION    LA SALLE    DEARBORN    RANDOLPH

NORTH WESTERN    CENTRAL    GRAND CENTRAL

The tradition of serving the nation's travelling public is maintained by the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak). Chicago Union Station is Amtrak's hub of inter-city operations and also serves as a major Metra commuter rail terminal.
