The blue plaque on the grade 2 listed building is one erected by Southwark Council and reads "Sir George Livesey 1834-1908 Chairman of the South Metropolitan Gas Company and one of Southwark's greatest industrialists gave this building to the people". For context see TQ3477 : The Livesey Museum for Children, SE15; for another detail see TQ3477 : Former Camberwell Library (detail). For the relics of Livesey's gasworks across the road, see TQ3477 : Old Kent Road gasholders.
