River Battery No. 7, which was also called the "Hot Shot Battery", had two 24 pounder smooth bore guns. The gunners of the 1st Tennessee Artillery Battalion who used these cannons heated the solid shot in a furnace before firing them at wooden ships. This cannon ball is 5.7 inches in diameter and weighs 24 pounds.
