The Black Sox Scandal
It was here at the Boston Hotel Buckminster on September 18, 1919, in one of the hotel's guest rooms that the Chicago White Sox first baseman Chick Gandil and bookmaker-gambler Joseph "Sport" Sullivan hatched what would become one of the most infamous crimes in American history: the fixing of the 1919 World Series, now referred to as The Black Sox Scandal.
