QUEENS REFORMED CHURCH
THE CONGREGATION WHICH WAS ORGANIZED APRIL 18, 1858 AS THE REFORMED PROTESTANT DUTCH CHURCH OF QUEENS BUILT THIS, THE FIRST PERMANENT CHURCH STRUCTURE IN WHAT IS TODAY CALLED QUEENS VILLAGE. LAND FOR THE CHURCH WAS DONATED BY BENJAMIN DOUGHTY AND THE CORNERSTONE WAS LAID SEPTEMBER 23, 1858, COMPLETED IN MAY, 1859
THE OLD" WHITE CHURCH" REMAINS AN INSPIRATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL LANDMARK. IT IS VIRTUALLY UNALTERED EXCEPT FOR THE PORTICO WHICH WAS ERECTED IN 1947. IN 1929 THE PARISH HOUSE WAS ADDED AND THE CHURCH RAISED TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION OF A GYMNASIUM UNDERNEATH.
