OLIVIER PLANTATION
After starting business in 1898,
Jules Olivier built this store in 1908 to
serve his growing plantation. Mr. Olivier
was commissioned the community's first
postmaster in 1898, and his store housed
the first Lydia post office until the
arrival of rural free delivery. Selling
everything from asprins to plow shares,
the store soon became a community
hub. It also housed administrative
offices for his sugar plantation of over
one thousand acres.
