This beautiful, three-dimensional plaque is mounted at the entrance of the Jefferson Memorial Building at 5700 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri. The building was designed by Isaac Taylor and built using proceeds from the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, also known as the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. The neo-classical limestone building stands at what was the main entrance to the fair. This plaque marks the dedication of the building in 1913, which was the first national monument to Thomas Jefferson that commemorates his role in the Louisiana Purchase. Today the building houses the Missouri History Museum.
