This plaque explains the metal sculpture here, in the form of a ship. At this location the remains of a thousand year old wooden ship was found 2.3 meters deep in the ground, in december 1930. The bottom part of the ship was made from a single giant oak tree. The ship has been removed, and is reconstructed in the Centraal museum of Utrecht, and is still kept there in a special section of the basement. Submitted by Danny Kalkhoven
