GOLDENDALE OBSERVATORY
ONE OF THE LARGEST PUBLIC TELESCOPES
On a clear night you can see forever.
Located in Goldendale, Washington, just 15 miles north of
Maryhill; this 24.5 inch "Cassegrain" mirror configuration
reflector telescope, capable of serious scientific research, is
dedicated to public use. The observatory is located on a
volcanic uplift in a part of Klickitat County that has a dry
climate where nighttime cloud cover usually doesn't
hamper stargazing. Amateur astronomers and the general
public are welcome to visit the observatory and use any of
its array of portable telescopes during seasonal visitor
hours or by appointment. It is managed by Washington
State Parks and Recreation Commission.
