On this spot, starting in 1989, the
original flying toaster factory operated.
Millions of aerial bread-warming ma-
chines flew from, this location to comput-
ing enthusiasts. In 1997, fruit-based
computer screens no longer required
saving. One night after dark, the plant
shut down, closing a chapter on
one of Berkeley's systems.
