There’s nothing remarkable at all about the stretch of road this sign is on except for the small cemetery. But, hey, a whole foundation exists to promote the creation of plaques for me to read:
“The William G. Pomeroy Foundation has learned that when a property or district is placed on the National Register of Historic Places, the designation does not include funding for a plaque or sign, and there are many sites that do not have signage. Commemorative signage on a property or in a district may be the only indicators of the historic significance. Therefore, in June 2013, the foundation established a grant program to fund either a plaque or a sign to identify your property’s designation. ”
