This plaque is located on the northwest corner of the old Elks Building in downtown Jackson, across from M.D. Anderson Plaza. It reads:

F.E. ANDERSON & CO. COTTON YARD
CIRCA 1890
At this location Frank Ervin Anderson
began what was to become the largest
cotton trading company in the world,
Anderson, Clayton, & Co. Frank, his
brother-in-law Will Clayton and later
his brother M.D. Anderson began their
new partnership at Oklahoma City
in 1904. The growth of the business
required moving to Houston, Texas, in
1914. Frank Anderson died in 1924,
leaving Will Clayton and M.D. to run
the company until it was purchased
by the Quaker Oats Co.
in 1986.
