The National Day of Mourning is observed in Canada on 28 April. It commemorates workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness due to workplace related hazards and incidents. In Williams Lake, two plaques are located in front of City Hall, by the cenotaph. One is dedicated to IWA members. A second plaque was erected in approximately 2000 in a joint program between Worksafe BC, the BC Federation of Labour and the BC Business Council. It is attached to a bench.
