Bush Pilots Airways

In the departure lounge at Cairns airport

Plaque reads:

'Bush Pilots Airways (Air Queensland)

This airline ceased operating in 1988, having given 37 years of service to the communities of outback Queensland. During this time Bush Pilots Airways (A.Q.) maintained vital links with the outside world for these isolated people.

Over the years, many 'bushies' pilots took their hard won experience, piloting skills and airmanship to all airlines in Australia.

In this way, Bush Pilots Airways (A.Q.) will live on and continue to contribute to the Excellent standard of aviation in Australia well into the twenty-first century.

Erected by former 'bushies' pilots and dedicated by Captain Ern Girault chief pilot and Operations Manager from 1963 to 1974'
