Almanzo Wilder Homestead
Boyhood home and farm of Al Wilder, future husband of 'Little House on the Prairie' books, Laura Ingalls Wilder.
She used his recollections of sylvan youth for some of her writings.
Property includes 83 of the original 88 acres purchased in 1840. The farmhouse, circa 1841, is kept about as original as any property can be that requires maintenance over 160 plus years. Barn and sheds are of the modern era.
In 2016, the whole of the county is off the beaten path. In pre-civil war days, this backwoods was as isolated as Montana.
