2-8 WILLOW PLACE

THESE DUPLEXES WERE BUILT IN THE GOTHIC REVIVAL STYLE ABOUT 1847, NOTABLE FEATURES INCLUDE COUPLED PORCHES WITH THEIR CLUSTERED COLONNETTES AND DIAMOND-PANED SIDE LIGHTS AND TRANSOMS IN THE ENTRANCES. THE ORIGINAL WINDOW TREATMENT BETWEEN THE SECOND AND THIRD STORIES, WHERE RECESSED PANELS WITH THEIR CHEVRON PATTERNS LEND A VERTICAL EMPHASIS TO THE DESIGN. FORESHADOWS THE SPANDREL ARRANGEMENT LATER EMPLOYED ON HIGH BUILDINGS.
