Mersey Square Improvements 1935

A plaque set on the east side of the Wellington Road viaduct commemorates the Mersey Square Improvements opened on May 10th 1935 by the Mayor, Alderman J Coupe. The improvements saw Wellington Bridge widened and the river Mersey culverted underneath the Bear Pit.
